Ingredients
Directions (See Step-by-Step photos below)
Pour baking soda, citric acid and clay through sieve and sift to remove clumps. Add sea salt then whisk to blend. Add melted shea butter, jojoba oil and essential oil in small streams while whisking to blend. Start testing bath bomb for molding by squeezing the mixture firmly in the palm of your hand. If the mixture retains its shape, it is ready to mold. If the mixture crumbles or cannot retain its shape, spray 1 squirt of witch hazel or alcohol, mix thoroughly, then try again. Repeat until mixture holds its shape.
If using two piece molds, pack mixture into molds one half at a time leaving one of the molds slightly rounded. Press firmly together and then gently release. You may have to gently tap the top with a spoon or knife to release. Gently roll over and repeat on the other side. Place on a tray and let air dry for at least 24 hours. If you are making round bath bombs, the bottoms will flatten out a bit when placed on the tray. To prevent this you will need to cushion the tray at least 1 ½ inches high. You can do this by placing 2-3 folded towels on the tray and then covering the towels with plastic wrap. Let set 1-2 days before using.
If using flat silicon molds, firmly pack mixture into mold then allow to set at least 24-48 hours before using.
